Grove Park Youth Club

Written by

The Grove Park Youth Club opened in 1966, built as one of the community facilities for the Chinbrook Estate.

It is a Bauhaus inspired building, part of the various social architecture projects built by the then London County Council Architects Department as part of rebuilding Britain following WW2.

It closed in 2012, following cuts to youth services. The community campaigned to reopen the youth club for a number of years. In 2020, the Youth Club was locally listed by Lewisham Council, recognising its value to the social architecture movement and its Bauhaus design. It reopened in 2021 thanks to the tireless work of the community securing grant funding and remains a much loved local landmark and community asset. Today it is open five days a week, offering free activities for children. Check out what’s on.
